Filipinos working abroad, according to 2016 data, has already reached around 2.2 million. The biggest share of OFWs comes from CALABARZON, followed by National Capital Region, Central Luzon, and then Cordillera as the least sharer. In this industry, more females are employed abroad than males; and those females are generally young ranging 25-39 years old while males are at an average of 45 years old. The leading destinations to work abroad are the countries in Middle East, specifically Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Qatar. Because of the opportunities that were given to OFWs, they were able to remit a total of 203 Billion pesos even for few months in 2016. With all these, some Filipinos in the country continue to seek opportunity abroad to earn more, as well as build career outside the country.
