Eastern Visayas or Region VIII is composed of two main islands, Leyte and Samar, and are consisted of six provinces. In terms of the economy, there are seven cities that help it grow stronger. These are Borongan, Baybay, Ormoc, Tacloban, Calbayog, Catbalogan, and Maasin. According to 2016 GRDP, Eastern Visayas is the fastest growing economy among all regions in the Philippines. This comes from construction, the fastest growing; followed by manufacturing, and then financial intermediation subsectors. The construction sector is registered the fastest due to Yolanda reconstruction projects from public to private sectors. This allows more people to search companies from the construction industry and regain from the occurrence in the region.
