Ilocos Region or Region I is located at the northwest part of Luzon, near Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, and West Philippine Sea. Its economy contributed 3.1% to the country's GDP in 2015, though Agriculture, Hunting, Forestry, and Fishing (AHFF) decreased by 1.3% in 2015. In 2016, the economy of the region accelerated due to faster performance in the industry and services sectors. This allows more jobs and career growth because of the opportunities given in the region. More growth in the economy comes from construction; mining and quarrying; and electricity, gas, and water supply (EGWS) which all grew faster than the previous year. Overall, industry and services was able to contribute the biggest share, while AHFF was able to share the lowest.
