Western Visayas, designated as Region VI, consists of six provinces namely Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental; and two highly urbanized cities, Bacolod and Iloilo. Due to rapid urbanization and increase of residential sector, the region is becoming more attractive. Its economy increased with 6.1% growth rate, yet slower compared to 2015. The economic activities of the private sector and the strong performance of the services sectors will continue to be the drivers and top contributors of growth. The employment in this region remains to be positive considering a good number of new part time jobs, while the Business Process Outsourcing remains to be an employment generator for the region.
