Functional overview

  • The Interior Designer’s main role is to work closely with the Enterprise Solutions & Project/Design Teams, greatly to help conceptualize and execute workplace designs & administrative work surrounding the projects assigned & its design.
  • He/She will be a part of the KMCS (Enterprise Solutions) Design Team creatively designing Corporate Workplace Interior projects for clients for both local and international clients of KMC Solutions. Working closely and reporting to the Design & Development Manager and the whole KMC Projects & Design team. He/She will be responsible for developing design concepts for corporate interior projects and leading (and/or participating) client presentations/pitches as well as design management and coordination for projects. He/she may do project management if the need arises.
  • This is a fast-paced work environment with a vibrant young team of local and international talents. The Interior Designer-Enterprise Solutions should be ambitious, imaginative, and highly creative with good interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills who should be able to express fully his/her design concept, hence, a strong command of English is also a must.
  • He should be able to help increase KMCS (Enterprise Solutions) Design teams’ productivity and focus more on creating more effective Interior designs for both KMCS internal and external clients.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Education: Candidate must possess at least a bachelor's degree in Interior Design. PRC Licensee preferred.
  • Experience: With at least 5 years of experience in the design and construction industry with a focus on Interior Design of Corporate and Commercial Offices.
  • Computer Skills/MS Office: Strong Computer skills (AUTOCAD, Sketchup, V-Ray, Enscape, & Photoshop)

Minimum competencies

  • An Interior Designer with excellent presentation skills with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the Fit-out industry
  • Analytical Skills: Demonstrates good analytical skills, having an ability to analyze, refine, summarize, and present data and information.
  • Communication Skills: Demonstrates good communication skills in both written and verbal form to ensure that there is an effective conveyance of design information.
  • Relevant experience and expertise in working on Corporate Interiors/Workplace design projects
  • Technical know-how on how to express/ present & implement his/her design
  • Updated on the design trends and knows how to source furniture and materials
  • Have a strong design sensibility and the technical ability to develop a project from conceptualization to execution.
  • A team player with a positive attitude to go the extra mile
  • Have multi-tasking ability, with time management and organizational skills.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Shall work closely with Junior Interior Designers/ Project Managers/Design Managers; whole KMCS teams; a good team player.
  • Responsible for creating and delivering creative presentations.
  • To prepare, and develop with the team where required, drawings, models, images, material & mood boards, and other documents relating to the design;
  • To provide pre-design services which may include conducting feasibility studies or specifying the requirements the design must meet.
  • Manage the development of design successfully from one phase to the next, without compromise to quality, budget, or schedule
  • Contributing to the production of conceptual design ideas, undertaking research and development of schemes, by way of freehand of CAD drawings
  • Provide quality control and review design documentation made by the junior Interior Designers--- knowledge sharing/ basic coaching
  • To attend Client work-sessions and design reviews as required.
  • To travel for assigned project presentations, coordination meetings, and site visits as required.
  • Review all documents to ensure that they incorporate the design intent.
  • Collaborate on projects including programming client needs, conceptual and schematic design, design development, and management of budgets and schedules.
  • Develop space planning concepts and generate program documents.
  • Participate in the selection of furniture systems and specifications.
  • Lead the team in performing construction administration services including responding to RFI's, reviewing and responding to submittals/substitutions/field conditions for conformance with design intent, attend and report on field visits, and conduct punch list reviews.
  • Represent the company for all necessary design consultation and coordination meetings.
  • Manage design coordination with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage and coordinate all communications to and from consultants. Provide project team coordination for finish plans, specifications, and material selections required for construction.
  • Resolve problems and issues (related to interior design) that may arise during construction. Work with consultants, furniture dealers, product representatives, and fabricators to meet overall project objectives.
  • Assist in managing client expectations, team communication, and consultant coordination.
  • Participate in business development and marketing efforts.
  • Supervise, develop, and mentor Junior Designers.
  • Responsible for final specifications, approval of ordered materials, and overall guidance on objectives and concepts.
  • Project Management
  • Make periodic visits to the site to familiarize him/herself generally with the progress and quality of the work and to determine, in general, if the work is proceeding following the Contract Documents;
  • Check the quality or quantity of the work;
  • Keep the client informed of the progress of the work, shall endeavor to guard the client against defects and deficiencies in the work of Contractors, and may condemn work as failing in conformance to the Contract Documents;
  • Shall update and submit necessary milestone reports and documents to the immediate supervisor/ associate /partner;
  • Shall submit complete documentation requirements by the end of each project;
  • Shall be responsible for project managing and coordinating the work of contractors;
  • Shall monitor the project from start to finish;
  • Shall resolve problems and issues that may arise during construction;
